New York magazine just did a neat little roundup of gelato spots across the city. We’re lucky to have gelato that rivals the stuff in Italy. I like Ciao Bella (its fresh mint chocolate chip is an extraordinary take on the usual) partly because it’s right up the street from my apartment, and thus convenient for after dinner “dessert walks.” But at the top of my list is the new spot Grom, in the West Village. I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews about its creaminess and purity of ingredients. Check out the “Gelato Slurpdown” here.

I just tried the pistachio kefir ice cream at Penny Licks and it’s my new favorite. The spot also has vegan ice cream and tiny tiny cones for $1 each, which means less money and less guilt! Excellent idea!
